A sovereign state has the right to protect its Territorial Integrity, National Security and Constitutional order. The last successive years, Ethiopia was aggressively working on development endeavors despite internal and external shocks. The Commissioning of GERD, Home grown Economic Reform, Digitalization and other Mega projects were exemplary projects with multiplier effects to the region.
These leapfrogging were achieved whereby historical enemies conspired against Ethiopia’s development. Historical enemy; Egypt and Eritrea have allied themselves with local mercenaries such as defunct tplf and others, meddles in domestic affairs of the country. As these acts were done ceaselessly by historical foes, it adversely affects Ethiopia’s National security and territorial integrity.
These resulted in the expelling of these countries diplomats from Ethiopia. Under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, Article 9, a receiving state may, at any time and without having to explain its decision, declare a diplomat persona non grata and require the sending state to recall that person. Ethiopia invoked this framework when it ordered an Egyptian diplomatic staff member to leave within 48 hours.
Ethiopia, currently, under normal circumstance has no an appetite for any conflict which can led to pickup arms to settle it rather engaged in developmental activities that can change livelihoods of its citizens and beyond. As anchor state in the region both in peace keeping and development trajectories, all Ethiopians don’t have time to waste due to external triggering factors.
